PROJECTS
According to Turkish media reports, Turkish solar panel manufacturer Alfa Solar and Astronergy Europe recently announced a joint venture agreement to build an integrated silicon wafer and solar cell production base in Balikesir Province, Turkey.
The base will initially have an annual production capacity of 2.5 GW, with a planned investment of approximately US$200 million (approximately RMB 1.42 billion) for the first phase. After the planned equity transfer and capital increase process, Alfa Solar and Astronergy Europe will each hold a 50% stake in the joint venture.
Alfa Solar, founded in 2011, focuses on photovoltaic module manufacturing and related new energy businesses, and is one of the leading companies in Turkey's photovoltaic industry. As of July 2025, its total annual photovoltaic module production capacity is close to 2 GW, sufficient to meet large-scale photovoltaic module order demands.
Chint New Energy, a subsidiary of Chint Group, is a smart manufacturing enterprise specializing in photovoltaic modules. It is one of the earliest private enterprises in China to enter the photovoltaic field and one of the first in the industry to achieve mass production of n-type TOPCon modules.
In 2024, Chint New Energy's global module shipments reached 40.2GW, ranking sixth globally. Of this, 26.1GW (65%) were shipped to the domestic market, and 14.1GW (35%) to overseas markets.
In the first three quarters of 2025, global module shipments reached 27.3GW, with 16.8GW shipped to the domestic market and 10.5GW to overseas markets.
Domestically, Chint New Energy has established smart manufacturing bases in Haining (Zhejiang), Yancheng (Jiangsu), Jiuquan (Gansu), Songyuan (Jilin), and Fengyang (Anhui).
Overseas, Chint New Energy previously invested in a photovoltaic manufacturing base in Thailand and has recently focused on the Turkish market.
Previously, Chint New Energy had already invested in a 1GW module factory in Adana, Turkey, which was its first photovoltaic module factory in Turkey. In March 2025, Chint New Energy announced that it would invest in a 5GW integrated factory in Balıkesir, covering the entire production chain of silicon wafers, cells and modules, with a total investment of US$700 million. This cooperation with Alfa Solar will help Chint New Energy build its third photovoltaic manufacturing project in Turkey.
