Liu Yiyang, Executive Secretary-General of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, attended the conference and delivered a welcome speech.
bifi PV The Workshop is a premier global academic summit in the photovoltaic industry. The inaugural summit was held in Constance, and subsequent summits have been held in Chambéry, France; Miyazaki, Japan; Denver, USA; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Ankara, Turkey; and Doha, Qatar. Following its Zhuhai debut in 2024, this year's summit returns to China, this year to Yiwu, home to a leading global mass production base for BC (Bright Crystal Silicon) cell modules, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the development of BC technology.
High-Level Dialogue: Discussing BC Technology
BC technology, as the closest to the limit of conversion efficiency for monocrystalline silicon cells, is also considered the ultimate technology in the monocrystalline silicon era. Technology. Aiko Solar was the first in the industry to release its ABC technology in 2021, and the first to achieve GW-level mass production of N-type BC technology. The ABC product series covers various application scenarios including distributed generation, ground-mounted power plants, and floating hydroelectric power plants. With its advantages of high power, high safety, high aesthetics, and high intelligence, its market recognition and influence have rapidly increased.

▲ Chen Gang, Chairman of Aiko Solar, delivers a keynote speech
Chen Gang, Chairman of Aiko Solar, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Leading Human Society into the Zero-Carbon Era," elaborating on the significant role of photovoltaic technology revolution in the development of human civilization. The development of energy utilization methods and energy infrastructure provides support for socio-economic development and is a driving force for human progress. Photovoltaics is the most efficient form of solar energy utilization to date, enabling human society to break free from dependence on fossil fuels and move towards a new era of zero-carbon, sustainable development.
"After years of development, the photovoltaic industry has shifted from an era dominated by supply-side raw material shortages to an era dominated by grid parity. With the deepening of the new electricity reform and the full entry of new energy power generation into the market, customers need scenario-based, differentiated, high-quality products. The era of demand-side-driven value competition has arrived," said Chen Gang. "Efficiency is the 'first principle' of the photovoltaic industry. Only by committing to technological innovation, continuously improving photoelectric conversion efficiency, meeting differentiated market demands with high-quality products, and providing differentiated value to customers can photovoltaic companies truly weather the cycles and achieve high-quality development across the entire industry." Today, we are increasing the mass production efficiency of photovoltaic modules to 25%, and by 2026 we will increase it to 26%, and in another 14 years we aim to reach 35%. This process requires the joint efforts of all our colleagues in the BC ecosystem.”
▲ BC Technology Roundtable Discussion
In the roundtable discussion themed “BC Technology: The Future is Here, Now is the Time,” Wang Yongqian, Chief Scientist of Aiko Solar, Tong Hongbo, Dean of the First Institute of LONGi Green Energy Central Research Institute, Peter Fath, CEO of RCT Solutions, and Gianluca Coletti, Chief Technology Officer of FuturaSun Group, participated in the discussion, sharing their views on the advantages and future development path of BC technology. Ge Min, co-founder of TaiyangNews, moderated the roundtable discussion.
Industry Collaboration, Building a BC Ecosystem
The disruptive innovation of BC technology compared to traditional technologies requires collaborative innovation across the entire industry chain to improve manufacturing levels and gradually form a healthy and virtuous cycle ecosystem. This summit brought together companies and institutions from across the global photovoltaic industry chain, including those involved in silicon material and wafer technology, cell and module R&D and production, testing and simulation, and photovoltaic systems, to discuss the future technological development of the photovoltaic industry.
Technical representatives from numerous photovoltaic companies and research institutions, including Aiko Solar, LONGi Green Energy, GCL System Integration Technology, Di'er Laser, Gotion Solar, Laplace New Energy, University of New South Wales (Australia), Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), and TÜV Rheinland, along with authoritative technical experts such as Shen Hui, Director of the Yangtze River Delta Solar Photovoltaic Technology Innovation Center, and Shen Wenzhong, Director of the Solar Energy Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, delivered a total of 30 keynote speeches, providing a systematic and comprehensive in-depth analysis of BC technology across the entire chain of design, production, testing, and application.
▲TÜV Rheinland awards "Module-level Fire Risk Resistance" certificate
Furthermore, at the dinner event on the first day of the summit, TÜV Rheinland also awarded Aiko Solar and LONGi with "Module-level Fire Risk Resistance" recognition certificates. In recent years, with the increase in the scale of photovoltaic power plants, fire accidents have occurred frequently, posing a threat to the lives and property of users. To address this, TÜV Rheinland has designed module-level fire risk assessment standards and testing specifications tailored to the needs of practical application scenarios. Test results show that BC modules have lower surface temperatures under high temperature and shading conditions, exhibiting unique advantages in fire resistance and better ensuring the safe operation of power plants.
Visiting Yiwu, Experiencing the Pulse of "Intelligent Manufacturing"
During the summit, attendees also visited the Aiko Yiwu factory, experiencing firsthand the intelligent ABC cell and module production process. Currently, Aiko's ABC module delivery efficiency has ranked first in the TaiyangNews Global Module Mass Production Efficiency Ranking for 33 consecutive months. Full-screen ABC modules have also begun delivery to domestic and international markets this year, with a mass production delivery efficiency exceeding 25%, creating incremental value for market customers with leading technology.
As Chen Gang stated in his summit address, in the era of value competition, customer needs have become the core of photovoltaic companies' market expansion. Providing products and services that meet the differentiated needs of different customers is the only way for photovoltaic companies to seek a new round of growth. Aiko's high-efficiency ABC modules offer higher power generation within the same area, coupled with features such as optimized shading power generation, superior temperature coefficient, lower degradation, high-temperature suppression, and microcrack resistance, addressing diverse needs in various scenarios and maximizing customer value.
The successful hosting of this Global BC Technology Innovation Summit and the 14th bifi PV Workshop marks a milestone in strengthening deep collaboration and promoting exchange and cooperation within the global photovoltaic industry. As a co-organizer of this summit, Aiko will continue to work with more photovoltaic colleagues dedicated to the clean energy transition, strengthening collaboration across production, academia, research, and application, jointly building a BC industry ecosystem, promoting BC technology innovation, sharing the value of new BC productivity, and driving human civilization to continuously improve the efficiency of solar energy utilization, jointly moving towards a new era of zero carbon.
